In September of 2022, SCRRBA became aware of an application for special temporary authority (STA) to use a number of amateur radio frequencies in the VHF and UHF bands for voice and telemetry in automobile racing communication systems.   The application stated that the applicant had searched the FCC ULS database, for the VHF and UHF bands, and determined a number frequencies that were "unoccupied".   Further, the application stated, "all amateur radio UHF frequencies will be coordinated with the local Amateur Radio repeater coordination and the Regulator Information office of the American Radio Relay League, Inc."

SCRRBA has never been contacted in regards to any use of frequencies in the 420-450MHz band by MRTC Motorsport Communications or any representative there of.
